ANDERBERG:

Let me start by introducing professor Peter Wiklund from the Karolinska Institute, who is going to talk about advances in robotic surgery. He is a pioneer in this field in Sweden and a leading expert in the world. He has created a Center here at the Karoilinska University Hospital were there are more robotic operations performed than in the whole of Europe. Please come up.

WIKLUND:

Thank you very much for the invitation and for the nice words of introduction.

I am going to talk about robotics in urology, where we have one of the busiest centers in Europe just now. We are doing mostly prostate surgery but also some other types of operations. The area where we have the most benefit of robotic surgery is in prostate cancer operations

ANDERBERG:

Thank you Peter. My plan for the afternoon is that we - in order to finish in time for a quick visit by some of the audience to the Karolinska training facilities - take the discussions after each of the three segments. Consequently, I think that we should now go on with KarlJohan Lundin, who will talk about his work on haptics. Then we will discuss haptics in the perspective of the illustrations you have just seen, where direct sensory feedback was not used.
